India Cooper: Air Force Veteran and Nursing Student

Meet India Cooper, an Air Force veteran aspiring to earn commission as an Air Force officer and nurse following graduation from the School of Nursing's Bachelor of Science degree program. In this interview, India discusses her military goals, her experiences as a UWF student, and the impact being a scholarship recipient has made on her educational success.

1. Why did you choose to attend UWF?

I heard nothing but great things about the instructors running the nursing program! I guarantee you won't find one alumnus to say that the level of education, especially at the school of nursing, was not top-tier.

2. What activities are you involved in at UWF or in the surrounding community?

I am the President of our National Student Nursing Association chapter; we strive to involve the community in the great things our nursing students are doing, and we play an integral role in advocacy for our area.

3. If you had a chance to speak to the donor(s) of your scholarship, what would you tell them?

I would thank them and tell them that what they're doing is making a difference. I wish they could meet the people whose lives they have impacted because they would truly understand how grateful and how honored we all are to receive such generous contributions to education.

4. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In 5 years I see myself as a commissioned officer in the Air Force. I see myself becoming a leader in military nursing and making a difference in the military world of medicine.

5. Why are you proud to be an Argo?

I am proud to be an Argo because it is truly a welcoming community. Every single fellow Argo I have come into contact with has been nothing short of amazing! When I think "Argo" I think "family".

6. If you could have a super-power, what would you choose and why?

I would choose to have wisdom, similar to king Solomon. I feel like wisdom feeds into and affects every aspect of your life. It influences the decisions that you make, your attitude, your temperament, the way you respond, the way you think ... everything. That is the ultimate super power.
