Registration is here again, and you have likely received multiple emails from advising and the registrar’s office about preparing for registration. I have compiled a list of tips for navigating the registration process to make this registration period as easy as possible for you.

Tip 1: Make sure you have been advised well before the date of registration.

You likely have already been contacted by your advisor about registration for spring, so check your email. Check your Navigate messages, too (Go to Navigate in MyUWF →  Click on the More tab and click on Conversations).

Tip: Search your advisor's email in Gmail to find the messages sent from them.

We try to start our advising process at least six weeks before registration begins so we have plenty of time to assist all students. However, we have hundreds of students each, and it is possible we missed something. If you did not get an email from your advisor, send your advisor an email or schedule an appointment in Navigate.

Don’t wait until the last minute! The days leading up to registration tend to be very busy. It may take longer for your advisor to respond to emails, and they may have limited appointment availability.

Tip 2: Check your pin has been released.

Go to Advising Status in MyUWF and check that your pin has been assigned. Even if you have been advised, sometimes the release of the pin falls through the cracks. Double-check that your PIN has been released because you cannot register without it! If you have been advised, whether via email or through a scheduled appointment and your PIN is not released, email your advisor so they can release it.

Tip 3:  Check your registration date.

It is important to know what day/time you are able to register. Go to Priority Registration in MyUWF and it will show your date/time for registration. Please note: the listed time is in the Central Time Zone, so plan accordingly.

IMPORTANT: If you are using a State Employee Tuition Waiver, you must wait to register. For registration dates, please review UWF’s webpage on the State Employee Tuition Waiver

Tip 4: Know what classes you need to register for this semester.

You and your advisor most likely discussed this during your advising appointment or your advisor emailed your recommended courses to you (or both). You can also check your degree plan found in Degree Audit (go to Degree Audit in MyUWF and click on Plans). If you have questions about your schedule, email your advisor or schedule another appointment.

Tip 5: Register as soon as registration opens

We know life gets busy! But please prioritize registering for courses. Why is this important? Many of our classes fill up quickly. However, if courses are low-enrolled, they will be canceled. Either way, to make sure you get the classes you need, it is best to register as soon as you are able.

Tip: Put a reminder in your calendar!

You can find directions for registration here

Tip 6: Check your course information in Classmate

Classmate (found in MyUWF) updates almost immediately with course information. So once you are registered, go into Classmate to see if your courses are listed. You can also find other important course information here too.

If you have questions, please contact your advisor. We are happy to help! Just please be patient, as response times may take slightly longer than normal during this busy season.

Good luck!
