Nearly every person is affected by substance abuse and addiction, whether personally or through a family member or close friend. Knowledge of this pervasive issue provides students with the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others while gaining expertise in a highly relevant area with a variety of applications. Students in the fields of social work, criminology and criminal justice, legal studies, psychology and healthcare, among others, can all benefit from subject matter expertise in substance abuse and its many manifestations.

What You Will Learn

Students may gain valuable internship and other experiential learning opportunities at a variety of agencies in the region including health care settings and addictions agencies.
