Dr. Khagendra Bhattarai

Biography

I have received my M.S. degree in Physics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 1998, M.S. degrees in Physics from Western Illinois University, Illinois, in 2009 and my Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from the University of South Florida in 2017. From 2001 to 2006, I worked as a Physics Lecturer at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. From 2007 to 2009, I was a Teaching Assistant at Western Illinois University. From 2009 to 2013, I was a Teaching Assistant at the University of South Florida. I worked as a Research Assistant at Microwave and Ultrafast Terahertz lab, the University of South Florida from 2014 to 2017. I worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Grand Valley State University from August 2017 to May 2018. My research interests include metamaterials, Plasmonics, Photonic Crystals, and Terahertz photonics. In this field, we design and characterize artificially engineered materials that have superior properties compared to natural materials. I have published nine papers in prestigious journals including Scientific Reports, Advance Optical Materials, and Optics Express. I was the recipient of the Summer Research Fellowship Award, 2016, awarded by Duckwall Scholarship, 2015 Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Physics Graduate Scholarship 2008 at Western Illinois University, and winner of NanoFlorida 2010, poster competition.
