RILE (Robotic Interactive Learning Environment)

RILE is an active learning environment where students are engaged in learning Physics through the exciting world of robotics. We are developing the content for an e-textbook. The content includes video lectures, robotic activities, simulations, demonstrations, and group activities. The pedagogical value of these materials is measured using based on student learning gains, instructor feedback, and student surveys.

Computational Facilities

ABACUS is the computational workhorse of the Physics Department. It has 24 2.6 GHz processors, an NVidia TeslaK20 GPU, and 768 GB of RAM. It supports state-of-the-art parallel computation and is the ideal machine for doing simulations of large systems. If you are interested in using ABACUS for your calculations, contact Dr. Varney.
