Competition Teams

Students work in teams to design and build robots or vehicles that are capable of handling specific tasks such as autonomous navigation through certain terrain, advanced interaction with everyday objects, sensing and monitoring of emergency situations, and more.

Air Team

Air Team

Students work in teams towards the construction of a fully autonomous vehicle. The unmanned aerial vehicles are designed for independent operation throughout flight time with all controls and decision relegated an onboard intelligent system. Each vehicle is purpose built with specific tasks such as wildlife monitoring, forest fire detection, search, and rescue assistance, etc.

Water Team

Water Team

Having the two engineering campuses in close proximity to the Gulf, Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach campus, leads our students to research and develop a wide range of surface and subsurface unmanned water vehicles. These water vehicles are purpose built by teams of four to six students and autonomously negotiate given path by using sonar, inertial navigation, and GPS. Most water vehicles hulls are usually designed and built also by the students in order to fully maximize the functionality of the boat/submarine.

Robotics Team - chess

Ground Team

Students are tasked with the design and construction of terrain specific ground vehicles. Vehicles should negotiate physical obstacles and navigate a given course with sensor feedback and GPS waypoint navigation. Vehicle operations are autonomous, all control directives are performed independently by an onboard intelligent system.
