Tips for Email

  • Know your audience and personalize whenever possible. Are you emailing a high school senior (FTIC) or a transfer student? Make sure your email is as personalized as possible.
    • For FTIC, statistics show that parents make 50% of the decision on which college a student chooses.
  • DO NOT attach any files to the email; use links instead. These will go to spam folders and are viewed as unsecure emails.
  • Refrain from using a lot of exclamation points. This will also send a red flag and go to the spam folder.
  • If you have a call to action, like “Schedule a time to chat” or “email me with your questions,” be sure to have a one- to two-business day turn around when responding.
