Stop-Out Scripts

Suggested Format/Content:

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Explain that you’re calling because you understand they were once enrolled at UWF, and you hope to help them explore opportunities to continue their educational goals.
  3. Learn more about their personal situation by asking open-ended questions such as: "What challenges have you faced in pursuing your degree?" or "How long have you been interested in [PROGRAM NAME]?"
  4. Move the phone call forward by explaining that there are resources available to assist them with their goals. 
  5. Highlight available resources, whether it’s a scholarship in your department or links to academic advising that you can include in your email.
  6. Ask them if they have any questions that you can answer about [PROGRAM NAME] at UWF.
  7. Invite them to schedule a time to meet virtually or via phone to go over program details or answer any questions. 

Example Phone Script:

Good morning/afternoon, [STUDENT’S NAME],

My name is [NAME AND TITLE] from the University of West Florida, and I’m reaching out to check in on you and see how I can help you achieve your educational goals. 

We understand that you have recently discontinued pursuing a degree in [MAJOR NAME] for the time being. You’re not alone in the challenges you face, and I hope we can assist you by learning more about your situation. Together, we can find solutions. Whether it’s lifting holds from your account or exploring financial aid options, the folks at UWF want to candidly see how we can help you move forward. 

Do you have any questions about the [DEPARTMENT OR PROGRAM NAME]? Let’s set up a time to chat about how we can help fulfill your educational aspirations and finish your degree.

Example Email Scripts:

EXAMPLE 1:
UWF has launched a new online Business degree starting this summer semester. This provides a great opportunity for you to finish that degree you started. Contact me today for information on how you can finish your degree online!

Ready to return to UWF and finish your degree? Contact us to learn about all options: full-time, part-time and online! Financial aid and payment plans may be available.

EXAMPLE 2:
Hello! I’m reaching out on behalf of the University of West Florida to discuss your educational aspirations and see how I can help you get back on track to achieving your goals. Let’s set up a time to discuss the challenges you’ve faced related to finishing your degree and how we can help.

EXAMPLE 3:
This is [NAME] from the University of West Florida, and I have some exciting news to share with you. Courses for the upcoming session will be accessible to you from wherever you are with UWF Summer Online. I’d love to chat with you about how continuing your education with this option will help you reach your educational goals while saving time and money.
