Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment

The four National Panhellenic Conference member sororities currently at UWF — Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Kappa Delta — host Primary Recruitment in the fall semester. Spring recruitment is based on membership count; therefore, fall recruitment is the most open time for recruitment into these sororities.

Contiuous Open Bidding

Some of our Panhellenic organizations participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB) or informal recruitment throughout the year. These organizations will market their COB on their social media channels, so we recommend following all of our organizations on Instagram to learn more. Please note, not all of our organizations will participate in COB.

2023 Primary Recruitment

Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment takes place every fall semester in a week known as Formal Recruitment. The Primary recruitment weekend for the 2023-2024 academic year will be Sept. 7-10, 2023. Please stay tuned for information about Fall 2023 primary recruitment. During the recruitment process, PNMs (potential new members) have the chance to meet women from each of the NPC member sororities on UWF’s campus.

This webpage will continue to be updated as new information is released. To participate in Formal Recruitment, you must register online and pay a $30 registration fee. The application will open in early Summer 2023. There is a virtual Fraternity and Sorority Life Information Session available to help PNMs get more detailed information. Potential new members must complete this training module, along with the recruitment orientation.

If you have questions about any Panhellenic sorority, email the Panhellenic Council or fsl@uwf.edu, as the individual chapters will not be able to answer specific questions related to Formal Recruitment.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment, you must have a 3.00 high school or 2.50 college grade point average (we will not round up under any circumstances), complete the Hazing Prevention Module, sign the Hazing Regulation Notice, and complete the FSL Information Session. The GPA used to verify your eligibility will be verified from your most recent full-time enrollment. This is a University policy and no exceptions will be made. Directions on how to enroll in the FSL Information Session can be found on our homepage.

If you are participating in Formal Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment and have classes or other obligations relating to your status as a University of West Florida student, then the Panhellenic Executive Board will work to schedule your recruitment events around these conflicts. However, we do ask that you clear your work and personal schedule to accommodate for recruitment to attend the maximum amount of events for interactions with the chapters.

Please note that PNMs will not be required to be present for the entire duration of the recruitment schedule, but knowing time conflicts allows the Panhellenic Council to make a schedule that works best for each individual.

Mutual Selection Process

The overall recruitment process is designed as a "mutual selection process". This means that for each round both chapters and PNMs are making selections for who they would like to get to know more at the next round. Though rare, not every person who completes Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment receives a bid; however, Panhellenic’s number one goal is help PNMs find their right fit at UWF. During recruitment, the PNMs have the chance each day to select their preferred sororities for the next day. Just as the PNM is narrowing down her choices, the sororities are also narrowing down theirs. Each day of recruitment, the maximum number of sororities PNMs can visit are narrowed down. At the end of Formal Recruitment, PNMs can be offered only one Formal Bid from a sorority they attended during Preference Round. During Bid Night, those receiving invitations will find out what sorority they have been matched with.

Panhellenic Recruitment Counselors

Once a PNM registers for recruitment and is approved, the PNM will be assigned to a recruitment counselor, also known as a Rho Gamma. This woman is the PNMs primary contact for all things recruitment. Rho Gammas are disassociated from their organizations to be an unbiased resource for those going through the recruitment process. During Primary Recruitment, two recruitment counselors come together to form a group with their PNMs, and their purpose is to help, support, and encourage women throughout the three-day process!

Interested in being a Rho Gamma? Contact fsl@uwf.edu to figure out when applications open.
