Community Service
We believe that community service and active citizenship opportunities help students become informed, responsible citizens. We support student volunteers by identifying opportunities, facilitating placement with service opportunities and recognizing participation in community service.
Community Service Opportunities and Outcomes
If you would like to learn about service-learning opportunities related to an academic course, please refer to Career Development and Community Engagement. We strive to be resources that can help match the issues our students are passionate about with the organizations or agencies that are addressing those specific issues.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of participation in community service opportunities, students will be able to:
- Reflect on community service as a component of responsible citizenship.
- Describe and analyze the social issues relevant to the community organization or agency in which they serve.
- Engage in meaningful and repetitive action in local communities
We encourage registered non-profit organizations that have volunteer or service opportunities to post their opportunities using the Argo Pulse Involvement Weekly Submission Form or by emailing out staff about service opportunities at argosserve@uwf.edu.
Involvement Weekly Submission Form on Argo Pulse
When volunteer opportunities are requested to be posted, Student Engagement then shares these opportunities with UWF students through email, social media, and our student database, Argo Pulse.
If you have specific questions about the Argo Pulse system, please contact us at studentorgs@uwf.edu. For questions regarding the Handshake system (job and internship posting platform), please contact our partnering department, Career Development & Community Engagement. They manage the database and can be contacted at 850.474.2254 or career@uwf.edu.
