Richard Steinert

Richard Steinert began his training at the famed Joffrey Ballet in New York. There he was spotted by international choreographer Tom Pazik and joined him at the Atlanta Ballet. Soon, becoming his protégée, Mr. Steinert followed Pazik as a principal dancer to the Baltimore Ballet. There he had many roles created for him by choreographers such as Wendy Robinson from the Royal Ballet in London, England. Steinert has appeared on the ballet stages throughout the United States as well as in television and film work. His choreographic works have been sanctioned by such funding organizations as the NEA, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Ford Foundation. He has held seats on the Board of Directors of the Mid American Arts Alliance, the SWRBA, the Alcoa National Choreographic Awards, and was appointed by then Governor Bill Clinton to act on his Arts in Education program in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was noted as one of Arkansas’ Ten Most Influential Men during his tenure as Artistic Director of Ballet Arkansas and was instrumental in developing the dance program at the Arkansas School for The Deaf. He has also appeared in the National Who’s Who for outstanding artistic contributions. He was Artistic Director of the Connecticut Contemporary Ballet Theatre, as well as Ballet Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut. Richard joins the UWF Theatre Department as a visiting instructor of Dance. This fall Ballet Pensacola and UWF Theatre will proudly present The Outrageous Dance Project In Late October, using both professional dancers, UWF dance students and members of Ballet Pensacola's company.
