UWF employees and dependents enrolled in Health Plans through the State of Florida previously were eligible to use services from SurgeryPlus as part of our Shared Savings Program benefits. Now, additional new services are available, and the company providing these services will be known as Lantern.

Members needing non-emergency surgery will still have access to assistance bundling all surgery costs and services as they did under SurgeryPlus. In addition, Lantern will now offer guidance with multiple aspects of cancer care for members with a cancer diagnosis of any kind. More information on this new Cancer Care Services Program is available in the announcement from the Department of Management Services, or online at the State of Florida Benefits page under the Shared Savings Program tab. Employees may also receive mailings to their home addresses regarding the new offerings.

The benefits afforded by Lantern, as others in the Shared Savings Program, are automatically available to members of the State of Florida Health Plans without any additional election process or premium cost. Additional details may be found on the Frequently Asked Questions document provided by the Department of Management Services. If any further information on this new benefit is released, news will be provided on the UWF Human Resources website as soon as possible.

Qualifying individuals, including employees of UWF, may receive a one-time lump sum benefit when adopting through Florida's child welfare system. The annual application period for this benefit began the first business day of January and concludes on the last business day of March.

The Workplace Flexibility Program Manual is a guideline for both the supervisor and the employee interested in flex scheduling or remote work.  Both of these programs are intended to create flexible conditions that will enhance the capability of both the employee and the University to meet/exceed the stated goals and objectives more effectively.
