Biography
Dr. Jenny L. Reed is a native of Louisiana but relocated to Florida only four years ago from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she spent 17 years with the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services. Dr. Reed holds bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in social work. She has 17 years of experience in child welfare, including as an investigator of abuse and neglect cases for both children and adults. She also worked as perinatal high risk case manager for the Mississippi Department of Health for four years.
During these experiences Dr. Reed became highly interested in the rate of teen pregnancy among African Americans. This interest lead her to her dissertation topic: "Improving Communication Skills of African American Parents Regarding Teen Sexual Behaviors."
Before relocating to Mississippi, Dr. Reed spent many years abroad as a military wife. She returned to the U.S. and worked in California and Nevada as a social worker in group homes and the Nevada State Department of Prisons for more than10 years.
