David Strohmetz

Biography

Dr. David B. Strohmetz, professor of psychology, teaches courses in research methods and social psychology.  

A social psychologist by training, Dr. Strohmetz focuses his research on how skill development, alongside knowledge acquisition, prepares students for post-baccalaureate success. He co-created the Employable Skills Self-Efficacy Survey to help students assess their workforce readiness and is currently developing a companion scale to measure professional mindset.

His other research projects explore the link between course activities and students’ confidence in their employable skills. Additionally, he is investigating how college experiences help fulfill students’ motivational need for self-expansion and personal growth.

An advocate for quality undergraduate education, Dr. Strohmetz is active in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).  He has co-authored a psychology research methods textbook and numerous instructional resources to support teaching excellence in the classroom.
