Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) is here to support you! We have resources available, including coaching on how to work with students with disabilities, how to handle specific student situations or cases and information about assistive technology.
Accommodate Portal
Accommodate is the system used by SAR to manage, approve and coordinate testing accommodations for UWF students.
The Accommodate Faculty Portal allows instructors to:
- View approved accommodations for students enrolled in their courses
- See scheduled testing appointments for students using SAR Testing Services
- Securely upload exams and testing instructions for exams being proctored
Faculty access to the portal is automatically granted to all current UWF instructors, including full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty. Information will only appear in the portal if a student registered with SAR is enrolled in one of your courses.

Testing Accommodations
Faculty are responsible for implementing approved testing accommodations identified in the student’s accommodation letter. Visit our Faculty Resources Page for guidance on implementing testing accommodations for both online and in-person courses.
Office for Teachers, Learning and Technology (OTLT)
Creating an accessible course or navigating accommodation needs can feel overwhelming. In addition to the support available through SAR, the OTLT is available to help faculty learn about current tools, resources and best practices for creating accessible course materials.
Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility (EIT)
UWF provides resources and guidance for creating and using accessible electronic and information technology (EIT), including electronic documents, websites, videos, software applications, and hardware. These resources are designed to help ensure that technology can be used effectively by everyone, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does SAR determine accommodations for a student with a disability?
SAR determines reasonable accommodations after receiving an individual's application and medical documentation reporting a specific disability. Then, SAR meets with the student to determine the appropriate accommodations.
Can I review the student’s disability documentation or application?
No. Disability information is confidential, and students are not required to disclose this information outside of the SAR's office after accommodations are determined.
What if a student approaches me with a concern about a disability?
Please refer the student to our SAR office. The student can register with our office by completing an application on our website, contacting our office by phone at 850.474.2387, emailing sar@uwf.edu or dropping by our office, Building 19, Room 100D.
What if I meet the requirements of a student’s accessibility, and they are still not passing my class?
You must treat all students registered under SAR like any student not performing in your class. Encourage them to visit you during office hours to discuss their performance and provide resources you think would be beneficial to their success. You may also suggest they contact our office to explore other accommodation options. Accommodations are put into place to remove academic barriers for students, but they do not guarantee success.
