Biography

Dr. Tarek Youssef, an Associate Professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, has worked as a researcher on several projects funded by the Department of Energy (DoE) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR). He authored and co-authored more than 15 journal and 25 conference articles, two book chapters, and three patents in energy storage, energy management, and smart grid security. He published articles in IEEE Transactions on industrial informatics, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on industrial applications, IEEE Transactions on energy conversion, IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, Electrical power system research Journal and Energies Journal.

Youssef joined UWF in 2018 after working as a postdoctorate at Florida International University for one year. His research during his Ph.D. and postdoctoral period was funded by DOE’s SEEDS cybersecurity center for securing smart grids. Before that, he worked for 12 years in the communication and security field in Egypt. Youssef holds an M.S. degree in power electronics and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Helwan University, Egypt, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Florida International University, USA.

His research interests include cyber-physical security, energy management, and intelligent control of the smart grid.
