Biography
Minh was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. He received a PhD in robotics from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore 2018. His PhD thesis focused on proposing and developing robotic and automated techniques for manipulating biological cells and micro-objects by originating micro-hands with laser-driven fingertips. From 2018 to 2021, he was a Research Fellow at the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore and NTU, researching wireless sensor networks for home-based rehabilitation and robotic dexterous manipulation. From 2022 to 2024, he was with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where he worked as a lecturer and a postdoctoral research associate. He joined UWF as an Assistant Professor in 2024.
Minh has published and presented over 30 top-tier journal and international conference articles in robotics and control theory. He has co-authored several patents and a book chapter. He won the Best Poster Award Finalist at IROS 2023, the Best Control Paper Award Finalist at RCAR 2020, and the Best Student Paper Award at RCAR 2017. Minh has served as a session chair/co-chair and technical program committee member at many international conferences and as a reviewer for top-tier journals and flagship conferences. He has supervised and mentored over 20 undergraduate and graduate students. He was included on the List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students at UIUC in 2023.
