Scholarships
Scholarships available from the Department of Chemistry and the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering.
These scholarships are awarded by a scholarship committee that reviews applications and makes the recommendation for receiving the scholarship and the award amount. To apply for the scholarships below, please log into your MyUWF account and open the UWF Scholarship Portal app. You may search the portal for the scholarships below.

Ascend Performance Materials Scholarship and Research: Chemistry | Funds support scholarships and summer research positions. Scholarships for UWF students with a major in Chemistry. |
Chemistry Alumni Scholarship | Full-time students with a major in Chemistry that meets enrollment requirements. |
Dr. Grace Po-Yuen Chiu Scholarship | Preference will be given to full-time international chemistry students entering their junior or senior year. |
Dr. Larry Manziek Memorial Scholarship | For students that meet enrollment requirements. Preference will be given to Chemistry students who are full-time, entering their junior or senior year, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, and interested in attending graduate school in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering or mathematics). |
Founding Chemistry Faculty Scholarship | For students that meet enrollment requirements. Preference will be given to Chemistry students maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. |
J Gurst Excellence in Chemistry | A combination of academic merit and interest in issues of STEM diversity with following assessment criteria: full-time chemistry students maintaining a 3.25 GPA or higher, have an interest in obtaining a graduate STEM degree, have demonstrated academic competencies in chemistry and/or research productivity, and participation in outreach/mentoring activities relative to the study of chemistry. |
Ralph K. Birdwhistell Chemistry | Students must be full time and may not otherwise be enrolled without the availability of a grant as determined by the Chemistry faculty. Summer research fellowships will be awarded by the Chemistry faculty to students showing special interest or talent for Chemistry research. |
Hemminghaus | Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. All B.S. and B.A. Chemistry majors are eligible for these scholarships. |

Cox Communication Scholarship | For students that meet enrollment requirements. Preference will be given to a graduate student majoring in one of the School of Science and Engineering disciplines and maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additional consideration will be given to students whose area of focus is in the holodeck and complex data visualization. |
HMCSE Endowment Scholarship | For merit and/or need-based undergraduates, that will provide funds to attract and maintain top students. Scholarships will reward upper-level students who are achieving academic excellence and provide the opportunity to participate in project-based learning activities in the School of Science and Engineering. |
National Defense Industrial Association, Gulf Coast Chapter | Preference given to students who reside in the greater Eglin community, pursuing an undergraduate engineering and/or other technical fields of study in the College of Science and Engineering, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarships will be renewable commensurate with University policies. |
Pensacola Women's Alliance (PWA) | Full or part-time female student seeking a degree in a professional STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) or business field. Must be a resident of the Escambia/Santa Rosa area, have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. |
