Maria Hane

Biography

Maria Hane has worked in nonprofit and public service for more than 25 years, including 17 years in museum leadership. She recently served as the President of the Museum of Science & History of Jacksonville (MOSH) for 11 years leading strategic growth to build a new museum in downtown Jacksonville. 

Maria has been active as a community and state leader throughout her career in Jacksonville. She is a current member of Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class of 2020 and active in Leadership Jacksonville since 2002. Maria has served in leadership roles with Visit Jacksonville (former chair), the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida, and the Florida Association of Museums. Maria received the 2020 Downtown Achievement Award from Downtown Vision, Inc. and the 2018 Tillie K. Fowler Distinguished Leadership Award from Leadership Jacksonville.

Maria received recognition as a National Arts Strategies Chief Executive Program Fellow and as a 2014 Change Agent from the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida’s Innovation and Collaboration awards. She has also received commendations from the City of Jacksonville’s Human Rights Commission, JASMYN, and the Regional Planning Council for her role in leading partnerships to advance race relations and address social justice issues in her community.  

She graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and is currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work from Florida State University. Before MOSH, Maria served as Deputy Director of Operations at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and Director of Written Communications for Jacksonville Mayor John D. Delaney.
