Welcome to the Department of Art and Design at the University of West Florida. For more than fifty years, we have fostered independent and critical thinking in our students through the production and study of the visual arts.

The studio art specialization offers foundations in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and photography. Our studio curriculum addresses technical and material means of visual expression while allowing students to focus on issues inherent in one's work.

The Art Gallery at UWF (TAG) seeks to challenge, stimulate, and engage students and the greater public through direct interaction with works of contemporary art. TAG features an annual series of revolving exhibitions that highlight student work as well as regional, national, and international artists.

The Makerspace unites UWF’s Art and Design department, Engineering’s CNC lab, and the Haas Center’s Sea3D lab to support a multidisciplinary creative community with tools including a laser cutter and engraver, woodworking equipment, a vinyl printer, and industrial and embroidery sewing machines.
