Ms. Katie Riesenberg

Biography

Katie Riesenberg has been at the University of West Florida in some capacity since 2005. She graduated with a BA in history and completed the University Honors program in 2009, then received her MA in history in 2011. As a graduate student, Katie received the Department of History Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award as well as the Carolyn A. Knefely Award for Excellence in Writing. She also participated in the first-ever College of Arts and Sciences Teaching Academy, during which she served as a graduate teaching assistant, completed a communication training course focused on best practices for teaching at the university level, and taught two semesters of Western Perspectives I.

Katie served as an advisor and lecturer in the Department of History, where she taught classes in American and European history and historical research methods. Most recently, Katie served as the Assistant Dean in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities. This included advising oversight, supervising curriculum improvements, collaborating with First Year Advising, and active service on committees promoting the college’s mission.

In the Kugelman Honors Program, Katie assists students with academic advising, teaches IDH 3055 Thesis Research Methods, coordinates internship experiences, and helps identify scholarship opportunities for students.
