Tuition Waivers


Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for Graduate Assistants

To qualify for an out-of-state waiver, a graduate student must be awarded a graduate assistantship (GA). Out-of-state fees for graduate assistants will be waived if they are:

Matriculated in a UWF graduate degree program.
Appointed as a graduate assistant, graduate research assistant, or graduate teaching assistant at a .25 FTE or greater.
Enrolled in at least 6 graduate level credits during the Fall/Spring semester in which they are appointed as a graduate assistant. For summer GA appointments, enrollment in at least 3 graduate level credits is required.
Graduate assistants at the thesis/dissertation stage of their programs must maintain continuous enrollment by registering for at least one thesis/dissertation hour each semester to qualify for the out-of-state waiver.

 These fee waivers apply only to out-of-state fees. The student is still responsible for in-state tuition and fees. However, the student may also be eligible for matriculation fee waivers. Out-of-state tuition waivers are processed through the student's academic department.


Matriculation Fee Waivers for Graduate Assistants

To qualify for a matriculation fee waiver, a graduate student must be awarded a graduate assistantship (GA). Matriculation fees for graduate assistants will be waived if they are:

Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for Students Enrolled in Fully Online Programs

Waivers to cover the out-of-state portion of assessed tuition and fees are available for qualified students admitted to specific online degree and certificate programs. Out-of-state tuition for graduate students will be waived if they are:

Pursuing an online degree or certificate program listed on the online campus program offerings website.
A non-Florida resident.
Enrolled in Online Campus courses (OLC coded).

 State Employee Tuition Fee Waivers

State employee students may request a tuition waiver for up to six (6) credit hours per semester. Tuition for state employee graduate students will be waived if:

They are employees of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.
They submit a completed UWF State Employee Tuition Fee Waiver form (PDF) and the Cashier's Office determines that they are eligible.

Senior Citizen Tuition Fee Waivers

Senior citizen students may request a tuition waiver if:

They are U.S. citizens, permanent resident aliens, or legal aliens granted indefinite stay by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), who are sixty (60) years old or older.
They meet the Florida residency requirements for tuition purposes. A Florida resident for tuition purposes is a person who has established and maintained legal residency in Florida for the previous twelve-month period.
They enroll in courses listed on the Senior Citizen Tuition Fee Waiver form (PDF)
They enroll in courses on an audit basis.
