Biography
Dr. Hedi Salanki-Rubardt, Distinguished University Professor and director of piano and chamber music, teaches piano and harpsichord performance, keyboard interpretation, musical structure and style, and chamber music. She is also recognized as a Yamaha Artist.
Salanki-Rubardt has gained worldwide recognition for her diverse repertoire of solo and chamber music for the piano and harpsichord. Her playing has been distinguished by its naturalness, grace and a feeling of flow.
Always in demand as a performer, judge and lecturer, some of her recent engagements include the San Jose International Baroque Festival in Costa Rica; World Piano Conference in Serbia; piano competition in Kunming, China; the Lancaster International Piano Festival, lecture-recitals in Chengdu and Guangzhou and a teaching invitation from the Interharmony International Music Festival in Germany.
She has played with the New Jersey Symphony, New York Chamber Orchestra, I Solisti New York, Syracuse Symphony, Pensacola Symphony, Mobile Symphony and others. She has also performed solo, duo and lecture recitals all over the world, including Europe, Canada, Japan, China, Central America and New Zealand.
She has recorded many significant works of Johann Sebastian Bach, including the “Goldberg Variations” (nominated for Ovation Magazine's Debut Artist of the Year Award), the “Concerti,” and the complete “English Suites.” She has also recorded Scarlatti sonatas, Telemann overtures, and a French Baroque program.
As founding artistic director of the Four Seasons Baroque Ensemble, she garnered critical acclaim for artistic excellence and innovative programming.
In 2015, she was named a Yamaha Artist for maintaining the highest standards in piano performance and education.
Degrees & Institutions
She received a master’s degree from Rutgers University and a doctorate from the Juilliard School, both in harpsichord performance. She also received degrees and diplomas in piano performance from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the Bartok Conservatory in Budapest.
