About The Art Gallery at UWF

The Art Gallery (TAG) at the University of West Florida seeks to challenge, stimulate, and engage students and the greater public through direct interaction with works of contemporary and modern art.  TAG's series of revolving exhibitions highlight both student work as well as innovative regional, national, and international artists. These exhibitions seek to promote critical thinking and cultural inspiration for the benefit of UWF students and the greater Gulf Coast community.

Every year, TAG features several solo and group exhibitions including the annual TAGGED Student Art and Design Competition, a biennial Art Faculty Exhibition, and several graduating BFA Thesis Exhibitions. The Gallery functions as a not-for-profit pedagogical space with a main focus of creating a forum for community dialog centered around experimental and inventive artworks.

TAG is centrally located across from Main Stage Theatre and Music Hall in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. Its high ceilings and 1,600 square feet offer a creative setting for artists to display work. The Gallery accepts proposals from emerging and established contemporary artists year around.

TESTBED: Faculty Artist-in-Residence and Exhibition 2024

The TESTBED: Faculty Artist-in-Residence program uses the gallery as an experimental space to facilitate artistic research that promotes dialogue and collaboration with students and staff. This year’s exhibition and programming will feature 3 talented and diverse artists: Jason Pinckard John Dougherty Marzia Ransom.

The open studio format gives the UWF and Northwest Florida community the unique experience to meet and talk with artists and see behind the scenes of their creative process. Open hours take place from July 9th to August 1st, Tuesdays 12-2pm, Wednesdays 1-3pm, and Thursdays 2-4pm.

Following the open studios, visitors can return and view completed works during the exhibition dates from August 22 through September 26, 2024.
