UPDATING THE UWF STRATEGIC PLAN: 2012-2017
Dear Colleagues,
It is time to update UWF’s strategic plan for 2012-17. In preparation, we have engaged in significant work during the past two years to better understand the national, state and regional conditions that have an impact on our work and our future. One of the most notable efforts has been the Academic Visioning process that entailed significant participation by faculty, staff, students, administration and our community partners. Additionally, numerous retreats, consultant reports and internal studies conducted under the “New Normal” banner have generated considerable data and influenced our thinking about UWF’s future. Now, it is time to take the next steps toward updating our strategic plan and extending our goals and objectives into the next five years.
Therefore, I have assembled a small working team to facilitate the update of the strategic plan. The members of the team are:
The work is anticipated to proceed in three phases, with the team shifting roles as necessary to complete this process prior to the June 2012 Board of Trustees meeting.
In the first phase, the team will assume the role of consultant by reviewing the significant work already in place and developing draft strategic planning documents that align with Guiding Principles articulated for the UWF 2012–17 Strategic Plan, which can be found at http://uwf.edu/academic/strategicplanning/.
In the second phase, the team will assume the role of facilitator by seeking reaction to a draft strategic plan from various internal and external constituent groups.
In the third phase, the team will assume the role of editor by revising and polishing the strategic planning documents so that the strategic plan may be presented to the Board of Trustees in June.
I look forward to this exciting process. It is a great time to be at The University of West Florida, as together we are charting our future.
Sincerely,
Judy Bense
