Melinda L. Lewis

Biography

Dr. Lewis is an associate professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of West Florida. Primary research and scholarly interests include rural social work practice, rural health disparities, rural mental health, creative teaching strategies, human trafficking education and prevention, Hispanic populations residing in the United States, and macro-level responses to external events. Dr. Lewis has taught across the social work curriculum at UWF, understanding human relationships, generalist and advanced practice, clinical social work, leadership and supervision, and field practice. Previously, Dr. Lewis held professional leadership positions in public and private social service and healthcare organizations serving rural populations in the southeastern United States.
