Biography
Dr. Burton is a Faculty Member within the Usha Kundu College of Health’s, Movement Sciences and Health Department. Within the Movement Sciences and Health Department, she is the Clinical Education Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Andrews Institute and Baptist Healthcare Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. She received her Bachelor of Education in Exercise Physiology from the University of Miami, Master of Science in Athletic Training from Florida International University, and her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.
Dr. Burton’s research interests focus on returning to academics following a concussion and a newfound interest of the use of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. Prior to UWF, Dr. Burton worked in K-12 education and clinically in the high school and collegiate settings. She also has experience as a PRN athletic trainer covering semipro men’s basketball.
Teaching a variety of athletic training courses, Dr. Burton seeks to mentor the new generation of Athletic Trainers going into the profession challenging them to seek their why. Licensed to practice in Florida, Dr. Burton is a member of the NATA, SEATA, and ATAF. She also volunteers her time on several committees to see the enhancement of the profession.
