FLDOE Fingerprinting Process
Fingerprints are done towards the end of the program or once you become a completer of the TeacherReady program as they are only valid for 1 year.
TeacherReady staff is not able to see the status of fingerprints or background checks in the FLDOE website. If you have questions about the process or would like to confirm FLDOE received your results, you may contact FLDOE directly at 1-800-445-6739 (US toll-free) or 850.245.5049 (International).
Board of Educator Certification (BEC) Information Requirements for Fingerprints
Be ready to provide the information below for your fingerprinting process:
- BEC authorized under §1012.56, Florida Statutes
- ORI = EDOEPUBS1 – TEACHER CERTIFICATION
- Originating Agency Case # (OCA) = Florida DOE # (located on the top right-hand side of the Statement of Eligibility)
- Social Security Number (SOC) Mandatory for BEC
- Date of Birth (DOB) must match BEC records
Recommended Option for Students Outside of Florida
Search for LiveScan providers in your area and call to make sure they process electronic fingerprints for the FLDOE by providing the ORI number. LiveScan providers will give you information to register, pay and schedule an appointment. The LiveScan provider will take your fingerprints in their system and send them electronically to the Florida Law Enforcement (FDLE) office. Results of your fingerprints will be sent to FLDOE.
If you cannot find a LiveScan provider that processes electronic fingerprints for the FLDOE in your area, you may use a different option. See below:
You will need to request a fingerprinting packet to FLDOE. The fingerprinting cards will be mailed to you. If you do not receive the packet, you may ask your local fingerprinting office for an FBI FD-258 (blue boxing) fingerprint hard card instead and fill out the appropriate BEC information listed below.
- Request the fingerprint packet by filling out the email form.
- Include your FLDOE number located on the top-right hand corner of your Statement of Eligibility or your online FLDOE account.
- Choose "Request Certification Materials” from the dropdown menu.
- The message should state: “I have completed an EPI and live out of state. Please mail me a fingerprint packet to [YOUR CURRENT MAILING ADDRESS]”
- If you do not receive the packet or have questions, you can call the FLDOE at 800-445-6739 (US toll-free) or 850.245.5049 (International).
- Take the hard cards to a local police station or FBI office in your city.
- Fill out the BEC information in the top boxes.
- Have the fingerprints taken on the physical card and returned to you.
- Locate an approved FLDOE LiveScan provider that states they are ‘Hard Card Capable’ and call or email them for instructions. You will mail your hard cards to them directly for processing. The Florida LiveScan Provider will process your fingerprints electronically and the FLDOE should receive them within 72 hours and attach them to your FLDOE file.
Do not send fingerprinting cards to FLDOE. Refer to the FLDOE Submitting Fingerprints for Certification page for any additional information.
- Search for an approved FLDOE LiveScan provider in the state.
