Your Experience Counts Towards a UWF Master’s Degree

Whether you are seeking an degree that fits into your schedule or looking to enhance your skills in the educational field, University of West Florida’s online education graduate programs allow you to broaden your knowledge and increase your expertise. Through these four UWF School of Education online master’s degree options, you can discover how to become one of tomorrow’s leaders in education in a personalized environment.

• TeacherReady completers are eligible to receive:
• • 6 credits by proficiency in the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Performance Technology or the M.A. in Exceptional Student Education - Special Education (not applicable to the Applied Behavior Analysis specialization),
  • Or 3 credit hours by proficiency in the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership Certification,
  • Plus, possible scholarship funding for an additional 6 credit hours.
• Students must begin the master’s degree program within five years of completing TeacherReady in order to be eligible to receive any credits by proficiency.
• After receiving credit for completion of TeacherReady, the remaining coursework required for the UWF master’s degree program may be completed in four to five semesters if the individual attends full-time (two courses per semester).
• The credits by proficiency will not be applied to the student’s record until the semester of graduation.

Programs

Curriculum & Instruction, M.Ed.

Gain a deeper understanding of education and prepare for an instructional or leadership role with the UWF's online Curriculum & Instruction, M.Ed.. Expand your skills further with the ability to specialize in either elementary, middle school or secondary school education. This 33-credit hour online program has a estimated completion of 24 months.  

Exceptional Student Education, M.A.

UWF's online Exceptional Student Education, M.A. – Special Education produces teachers, administrators, related professionals and specialists in many areas of exceptional student education. The 33-credit hour program has cohorts that begin each semester, with an estimated program completion of 24 months, enabling you to earn your degree quickly to pursue advancement in your field. One-on-one advising, a comprehensive curriculum and certified quality education from expert faculty will provide you with the experience you need to succeed.
Note: TeacherReady completers are eligible for credits for proficiency ONLY in the Special Education specialization and not in the Applied Behavior Analysis program.

Educational Leadership, M.Ed.

UWF’s online Educational Leadership Certification, M.Ed. program is designed for experienced teachers who want to prepare for administrative and supervisory positions, such as principal, assistant principal, district supervisor, in-service director, curriculum developer, or dean in public and private elementary and secondary schools. The degree emphasizes the eight Florida Principal Leadership Standards and their associated competencies, and prepares students for the Florida Educational Leadership Exam (FELE). This 30-credit hour online program has an estimated program completion of 18 months. Applicants must have two years of professional teaching experience to be eligible for acceptance into the program. This program leads to a Florida Educational Leadership Certification.

Instructional Design and Performance Technology, M.Ed.

Prepare to solve complex challenges in classroom learning or in organizational performance, corporate training or professional development with UWF’s online Instructional Design and Performance Technology, M.Ed. program. Students completing this master’s also earn certificates in Human Performance Improvement, Online Teaching and Learning, and Current and Emerging Instructional Technology,  providing additional credentials upon graduation. The 36-credit hour program has an estimated completion of 24 months.
