While teaching overseas, David began searching for a certification pathway that would help advance his career while working around his busy, full-time schedule. He was drawn to TeacherReady’s practical pathway that connects directly to the classroom experience rather than focusing solely on technical terms and theories.

David found that the most valuable aspect of the TeacherReady program was the ability to immediately apply new concepts with students. From lesson planning, assessments and instructional design, the content he learned wasn’t just assignments to complete. They became tools that could be applied to real classrooms to help strengthen existing teaching practices while providing a career framework for making the best instructional decisions.

“The more intentional and structured you are, the better your students do. Planning, alignment and clear goals matter much more than simply delivering content. That is something I have carried into everything I do now,” said David.

Currently working as a secondary English teacher and IGCSE English coordinator at an international school in China, David hopes to continue growing as both an educator and a leader while helping to build strong English programs that create measurable student success.

“Long term, I want to keep working on curriculum, systems and programs that have a real impact,” David shared.

For those already working in the classroom, David recommends approaching TeacherReady as an extension of daily teaching practice. He emphasized that the more closely the coursework is connected to real classroom experiences, the more meaningful and effective the learning becomes.
