Feeling the mid-semester slump? The halfway point can be tough, but you're not in this alone. We collected the best survival tips directly from your fellow students. Forget the textbook advice—this is practical, real-world advice on managing time, fighting burnout, and using campus resources to not just survive, but crush the rest of the semester.
Thank you to our amazing School of Education Dean's Office Graduate Assistants for this awesome advice!
Slow and steady wins the race! Prioritize learning in small increments for time management purposes - prevents becoming overwhelmed!
Team up! You are not in this alone, if you are feeling stuck - join a study group with classmates or attend your professor’s office hours.
Utilize your student tools! Attend a session in the writing center, contact UWF tutoring and learning resources, and find a study space in the Pace Library. See School of Education Student Support and Resources.
Take some breaks! Step away from your work in regular intervals to boost concentration and allow new information to stick in your mind.
Spend some time organizing your tasks! Put together a to-do list to keep deadlines in check and take on the difficult tasks accordingly. See Ms. Jennifer Griffin’s 10 Tips for Mastering Time Management.
Connect with family and friends! Interaction with loved ones can provide support during stressful times in the semester. Stay connected!
Refer to your goals! Re-assess your personal motivations and goals to continue to reach for the stars as you chase your dreams and face academic challenges when learning!
Join up! Attend events and activities to find others that you can connect with and relate to! Explore the campus groups and clubs offered on the Argo Pulse page!
Create a positive work environment! Make a comfortable space to work in and are able to study for consistent periods of time.
Give yourself some grace! Allow yourself to maintain your physical and mental well-being, take time for your energy and recovery when actively learning.
Celebrate the small wins! Acknowledge the smaller victories on the way to your overall journey to achievement! It is important to give yourself a reward or a treat to celebrate a good grade or an assignment submission before moving on to other tasks.
Topic coming in November! Finals & Ending the Semester Strong!
