Share your passion for mathematics. Become a certified grade 6-12 teacher while earning your mathematics degree at UWF. This one-of-a-kind program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Why Mathematics at UWF?

Our innovative program will provide you with a degree in mathematics plus a Florida professional teacher certification. You will gain the knowledge and skills you need to teach students in grades 6-12 with diverse learning needs.

Coursework includes core physics courses, education classes and practical teaching experiences. You will be prepared to teach Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics or comprehensive science.

In addition, professional teaching certification gives you versatility in career options.

What You Will Learn

You will study algebra, calculus, statistics and more. You will also take general education classes and a variety of teacher training courses.

Field experiences are built into the curriculum, and you will receive coaching every step of the way from experienced teaching mentors.

Summer internships can provide a starting stipend of $1,250. Juniors and seniors are eligible for generous scholarships.

The UWF-Teach program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. CAEP is the only national accreditor for educator preparation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

UWF programs offered at the Pensacola campus or UWF Emerald Coast may require online courses. Discuss the program requirements and planning with your academic advisor.
