Biography

Dr. Bassam Shaer, a Professor in the Department of Engineering, has more than 20 years experience in teaching and research. He has published research on microcontrollers for energy conservation and for heating, ventilation and air conditioning zone control systems; intelligent tracking telescope; pseudo-exhaustive testing and programmable logic devices, embedded system design, VLSI design and testing, partitioning, and pseudo exhaustive testing and other subjects. Shaer’s work has been published in Computer Technology and application, International Journal of Engineering Technology, IEEE Transactions on Very Large Integration Systems and other refereed publications.

In addition, he has been a reviewer for 10 publications. Shaer earned both a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. He joined UWF in 2005 after teaching for nine years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Shaer teaches Electronic Circuits, VLSI, Digital Computer Architecture, Digital Design, Microprocessor Applications and other courses.
