Scholarships

The College of Business offers a limited number of undergraduate scholarships, graduate scholarships, assistantships and graduate tuition waivers.

Bill and Ellie Kimball Memorial Scholarship

For junior and senior-level College of Business majors. Awards are made annually, in the spring semester, and are based on cumulative GPA of all courses taken at UWF, with at least 30 hours completed. Awards amounts vary. Applications are not accepted for this scholarship. 

Bonfire Pizza LLC Visionary Scholarship

For students who meet the minimum enrollment requirements of The University of West Florida and who are majoring in the College of Business. Funds may be used for tuition, books, room and/or board. The amount of the scholarship will be up to $1,000 per year. Should the balance allow more than one scholarship, multiple awards may be given. This scholarship is not renewable; each student may only receive it once. 

Bookstore Scholarship Program

For full-time undergraduate students who are majoring in the College of Business. GPA must be 2.5 or higher. Recipients may only receive the award twice. Award amounts vary between $100 and $500 per semester. Applications are not accepted for this scholarship. 

Brigadier General and Mrs. Michael L. Ferguson Scholarship for Military Veterans and Sons and Daughters of Military Veterans

For students who are the sons or daughters of deceased, active duty, or retired veterans, who are enrolled at UWF, and who are taking College of Business courses. GPA must be 2.5 or higher and recipients must maintain this GPA for renewal. Applicants must demonstrate leadership capability and a commitment to service. Recipients will be awarded $750 per semester for fall and spring semesters only. This scholarship is not automatically renewable; applicants must resubmit an application each year. Donors to this scholarship include Brig. General and Mrs. Michael L. Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. George V. Sherman, Jr. 

 C. L. Fountain Family Business Ethics Scholarship

For students majoring in a business discipline and registered for at least two courses. Students must have a minimum of one hour in an approved Business Ethics Course, demonstrate a commitment to serving their community, and show financial need (must qualify through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships). Students must provide a statement indicating service activities to their community. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Charles and Fran Switzer Business Ethics Scholarship

For students majoring in a business discipline and registered for at least two courses. Students must have a minimum of one hour in an approved Business Ethics Course, demonstrate a commitment to serving their community, and show financial need (must qualify through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships). Students must provide a statement indicating service activities to their community. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Coastal Bank and Trust Scholarship Endowment

For community college and/or state college transfer students who are full-time, majoring in the College of Business, and who maintain a GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to qualified students who are Coastal Bank and Trust/Synovus employees, or their immediate family members, before being offered to other qualified students. Documentation from Coastal Bank and Trust/Synovus must be submitted with the scholarship application. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

College of Business Alumni Scholarship

For children of College of Business alumni and/or alumni returning to school in a degree-seeking program in the College of Business. Students may be either part-time or full-time and must meet all UWF enrollment criteria. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

College of Business Bright Futures Plus

For College of Business majors who are full-time upon enrollment at UWF and who maintain full-time status during enrollment. Students must enter as juniors with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from a Florida public community or state college, be recipients of the Bright Futures Scholarship upon graduation from high school, and have a transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher. Bright Futures Plus Scholarships are merit-based awards established to recognize excellent transfer students interested in business careers. Recipients will be awarded $500 per semester for fall and spring semesters only. Scholarship is renewable for four semesters, provided students maintain eligibility requirements.

Community and State College Transfer Scholarships

For full-time College of Business majors transferring from public community or state colleges with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must enter as juniors with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree. Recipients will be awarded $500 per semester for fall and spring semesters only. Scholarship is renewable for four semesters, provided students maintain eligibility requirements. Candidates are recommended by state or community college business department heads; therefore, applications are not accepted for this scholarship.

Dr. Arup K. Mukherjee College of Business Scholarship Endowment

Preference will be given to need-based student(s) who major in the Department of Management and Management Information Systems and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Two scholarships will be awarded (1) in Fall and (1) Spring.

John L. Switzer Business Ethics Scholarship

For students majoring in a business discipline and registered for at least two courses. Students must have a minimum of one hour in an approved Business Ethics Course, demonstrate a commitment to serving their community, and show financial need (must qualify through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships). Students must provide a statement indicating service activities to their community. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Julian and Kim MacQueen Endowment

For College of Business Global Hospitality and Tourism Management Guest Experience majors who meet UWF enrollment requirements. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

KIA AutoSport, College of Business Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business. Preference will be given to junior and senior-level students. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Leola S. & Lawrence A. Alexander, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business and who are registered for a minimum of two courses. Students must take a minimum of one hour in an approved Business Ethics course or a Business Law course that integrates Business Ethics. The student must show financial need (must qualify through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships). Students must provide a statement indicating service activities to their community. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Maria Flewellen Mikel Memorial Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business who meet UWF enrollment requirements. Preference will be given to upper division or transfer female students pursuing a degree in either Business or Finance and maintaining a 2.7 GPA. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Michael and Phyllis Johnson, State Farm Insurance Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business who are maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to upper level students who are utilizing the student disability services on campus. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Orville Beckford Endowment for Excellence in Business Scholarship

For undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking students majoring in a business discipline who are registered for a minimum of two courses and who maintain a GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (graduate). Financial need will be considered. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Pen Air Federal Credit Union Betty M. Petree Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business. Preference will be given to upper level students. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Phillips B. Fulcher & Family Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business who are maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to upper level students who are financially less advantaged. Award amounts vary. Awards are made for fall and spring semesters only.

Textbook Brokers Scholarship

For students majoring in the College of Business. Preference will be given to freshmen and sophomores. Awards will be based on academic merit to students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Recipients will be awarded $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester.

Thomas C. Committee-Richard Fountain Endowment

For students majoring in the College of Business. Award amounts vary. 

Travis J. Bowden Scholarship in Business Ethics

For full- or part-time students majoring in the College of Business. GPA must be 2.5 or higher. Preference will be given to U.S. citizens who reside in Northwest Florida and to financially less advantaged and/or first-generation students. Award amounts vary. Awards are for fall and spring semesters only.

Warren Averett College of Business

For students majoring in the College of Business. Preference will be given to students majoring in Accounting. Award amounts vary.

John C. Pace, Jr. Graduate Scholarship

For Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business graduate students who are enrolled for six or more semester hours of graduate credit. A minimum entering undergraduate GPA of 3.0* is required for new graduate students and a minimum UWF graduate GPA of 3.0 is required for continuing graduate students. Awards are for fall, spring and summer semesters, depending on the availability of funds. The amount awarded is competitive and based on the UWF graduate GPA for continuing students and GMAT/GRE scores and undergraduate GPA* for new students.

Merit Graduate Scholarship

For Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business graduate students who are enrolled for six or more semester hours of graduate credit. A minimum entering undergraduate GPA of 3.0* is required for new graduate students and a minimum UWF graduate GPA of 3.0 is required for continuing graduate students. Awards are for fall, spring, and summer semesters, depending on the availability of funds. The amount awarded is competitive and based on the UWF graduate GPA for continuing students and GMAT/GRE scores and undergraduate GPA* for new students.

Orville Beckford Endowment for Excellence in Business Scholarship

For undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking students majoring in a business discipline who are registered for at least two courses (6 hours) and who maintain a GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (graduate). Financial need will be considered (must qualify through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships). The scholarship is available for fall and spring and may be renewable commensurate with the policies of the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Bill W. Peebles Jr. Scholarship

For graduate-degree-seeking students majoring in Public Administration and who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Grant Holmes Memorial Scholarship

For undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking students wishing to pursue a career in labor relations, human relations or risk management. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5. A career goal statement must be submitted as a supplemental document in the Scholarship Portal.

For Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business graduate students who are enrolled for six or more graduate level credit hours. A minimum entering undergraduate GPA of 3.0* is required for new graduate students and a minimum UWF graduate GPA of 3.0 is required for continuing graduate students. Awards are for fall, spring and summer semesters, depending on the availability of funds. The amount awarded is competitive and based on the UWF graduate GPA for continuing students and GMAT/GRE scores and undergraduate GPA* for new students.

UWF Graduate Grant is an institutional grant awarded to graduate students with documented need. The FAFSA will need to be completed in order to make a final determination of eligibility.

Graduate Assistantship

Graduate Assistantships are available for multiple departments within the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business.

Students must be enrolled in six or more semester hours of graduate credit for fall and spring semesters and three or more semester hours of graduate credit for summer semesters. Graduate assistants must work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Graduate Assistant Matriculation Fee Waiver

The matriculation fee waiver pays 50% of the in-state portion of tuition for graduate courses in the graduate assistant’s program of study (remaining 50% and additional graduate fees are the responsibility of the student).

Graduate Assistant Non-Florida Tuition Waiver

The Graduate Non-Florida Tuition Waiver is available to Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business graduate assistants working a minimum of 10 hours per week. Students must be officially classified by the University as a non-Florida student for fee assessment purposes, present a 3.0 GPA if a new graduate student and maintain a 3.0 GPA on UWF coursework. Students must be enrolled for six or more semester hours of graduate credit during each fall and spring semester and three or more semester hours of graduate credit during each summer semester.
