Fredric G. Levin Scholars
The Fredric G. Levin Scholars Program is an invitation-only leadership development and community engagement-focused program for which eligible incoming freshmen are invited to apply.
How to Apply
- Application invitations for the Fredric G. Levin Scholars Program and Scholarship will be sent to eligible students via email between January and February. The deadline to apply is March 1.
- Students who receive an invitation must apply by submitting all application materials:
- Essay response to prompts
- Recommendation form completed by academic reference
- Recommendation form completed by a supervisor
- Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- ePortfolio of curricular and extracurricular accomplishments
- Purpose statement
- Please note that the application process includes a mandatory virtual interview for students selected to be finalists.
Eligibility Requirements
- Students accepted into the University of West Florida as freshmen are invited to apply for the program and scholarship.
- Applicants must have at least a 3.90 core GPA in high school.

The Fredric G. Levin Scholars Program supports students throughout their four-year journey at UWF, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential and connecting them to the right opportunities at the right time.
Year 1
- 5,000 scholarship
- Residence in the Fredric G. Levin Scholars living-learning community in Pace Hall
- Required course: IDH 1050: Foundations of Leadership (3sh)
- Leadership retreat
- Participation in Fredric G. Levin Scholars Program events and activities
- 25 hours of community service
Year 2*
- $5,000 Scholarship
- Required course: IDH 1051 Experiential Learning and Service
- Participation in LSP events and activities
- Site visits with local and regional community leaders
- Development of internship proposal
- 25 hours of community service
Year 3*
- $5,000 scholarship
- One-on-one mentorship by faculty and/or professional leaders
- Site-based community internship (10-20 hours/week)
- ePortfolio
- Opportunities to mentor new Fredric G. Levin Scholars
- Development and presentation of senior capstone project
- 25 hours of community service
Year 4*
- $5,000 Scholarship
- Required course: IDH 4980: Leadership and Service Capstone
- Completion of senior capstone project
- Presentation of capstone project outcomes
- Fredric G. Levin Scholars graduation celebration
*Renewal Requirements
- A 3.0 cumulative UWF GPA is required for renewal.
- Renewable UWF scholarships require continuous, full-time enrollment of 12+ credit hours, excluding summer, at UWF with good academic standing.
- All Fredric G. Levin Scholars Program awards are applicable for eight consecutive semesters (fall and spring only) or upon undergraduate degree completion, whichever comes first, so long as renewal requirements are maintained.
