Advising
Honors Advising and First-Year Advising
Honors advisors are available to all students in the Kugelman Honors Program to discuss honors-related advising concerns. Students will first meet with First Year Advising or a major/minor advisor. Students can verify their academic advisor by logging into Navigate via MyUWF.
Stay Connected: Check your UWF Student Email
Checking your UWF student email daily is crucial. Advisors and University representatives primarily use email to communicate important information to you. Regularly monitoring your student email account ensures you receive time-sensitive messages promptly, avoiding missed opportunities or deadlines.
Schedule Advising Appointments
Advising appointments can be made by using Navigate, which is found in MyUWF. Please select the locations Honors (Pace Hall, Building 930) for an in-person appointment or Honors (Virtual/Phone) for a virtual appointment. If you select the virtual option, your appointment confirmation will include a meeting link to use during your appointment time. You will need a computer or tablet with a microphone to connect with your Honors Advisor. It is preferred that you have access to MyUWF during the appointment.
There are also step-by-step instructions on how to schedule an academic advising appointment in the public knowledge base.
Please note that all appointments are made using Central Daylight Time, so plan accordingly if you are in a different time zone. If you are 10+ minutes late, you will be considered a no-show, and your appointment will be canceled in consideration of the following student appointment.
Priority Registration Privileges for Kugelman Honors Students
Honors students enjoy the privilege of Priority Registration. We encourage you to schedule your advising appointments early and regularly to make the most of this opportunity.
Maintaining Honors Status: GPA Requirement
To maintain active standing within the Kugelman Honors Program, all students must uphold a minimum 3.0 GPA at UWF. Falling below this threshold will result in being placed on probation in the Honors Program. If an honors student fails to achieve a 3.0 GPA for two consecutive semesters, they will be deemed academically ineligible to continue as a member of the Honors Program. Similarly, failure to complete an Honors course for two consecutive semesters (excluding summer semesters) will result in termination for non-participation.
Students who find themselves academically ineligible can seek reinstatement to the Honors Program. Once their GPA exceeds 3.0, they may submit a petition for reinstatement to the Honors Director. We encourage students to take this opportunity to re-engage with the Honors community and resume their academic journey with renewed enthusiasm.
Honors Courses and Seminars
Honors courses vary by semester and will be posted to the Registration Menu in MyUWF.
Honors Thesis Funding
Students who have a thesis prospectus approved by a faculty thesis advisor and the Honors Director are eligible to apply for funding to support their thesis research.
