Academic Advising Information for New Graduate Students
This page provides information useful to new graduate students who need to connect with their academic advisor as part of their next steps after admission.
Meeting with your Academic Advisor
Welcome to the University of West Florida! An important first step after admission is to schedule an academic advising appointment to review prior course work and to create an academic plan for the degree program at UWF.
Students will use Navigate found in My UWF to make an appointment with their assigned academic advisor. Please wait approximately 24 hours after confirming your admission before you will have access to the platform to schedule your advising appointment.
Once access to Navigate is available, use the "New Graduate Student" service reason when scheduling an appointment to allow for a longer first appointment to ensure that the advisor has time to review important information necessary for new students. Navigate will present the available options for appointments to select the one that works best. Please note that often "New Graduate Student" appointments will not be available until after the schedule of courses is available for the semester of entry so it may be an appointment several days in the future depending on the timing of admission.
Locating Your Advisor
Students need to identify their advisors to know who to contact about advising matters and schedule an appointment when necessary. For more information on how to locate your academic advising team members, view how to find the information in Navigate via My UWF.
