B.S., McMaster University

My Research: Currently I am working on my thesis with Dr. Steven Kass in his human factors laboratory. My experiments are designed to determine whether an individual’s driving behaviors can be predicted by using a battery of psychomotor and cognitive tests. Experiments are designed using STISIM software to create complex scenarios on the computer that serve as a realistic driving environment. The psychomotor and cognitive tests that will be used in the experiments are designed using E-Prime. Ultimately, my goal is to compile a battery of tests that best predict driving performance under simple and complex driving conditions.
My Job: As a graduate student, I am employed by the Psychology department as a graduate assistant to adjunct faculty. My position is a unique one in which I have an opportunity to work with many faculty members. My tasks in this position include setting up and managing e-Learning courses, teaching, interacting with students and of course… grading papers and tests. In addition to being a graduate assistant to adjunct faculty, I also work in the Psychology department’s office. Some of my recent projects in the office include editing undergraduate and graduate student handbooks, and making course syllabi and Student Learning Outcomes available online. Having been at this position for about 1 ½ years now, I have learned a lot about teaching and managing an office. The skills I have learned here will no doubt be useful in my future.
