The NCATE approved Comprehensive Specialization in Middle Level Education
is a non-initial teacher certification program.
This specialization prepares prospective middle school teachers who
do not hold Florida certification by completing a master's degree. The
specialization focuses on a balance between content, pedagogy, the nature
of the early adolescent learner, and includes student teaching. Middle
Level Specializations include mathematics, science, language arts, and
social sciences.
Students in this Master’s degree specialization have 21
semester hours of required core courses.
It should be noted that students will select a Faculty
Mentor before completing EDG 5366. This Faculty Mentor
will provide career advice, provide advice about the
selection of elective courses related to the student’s area
of interest, and provide directions and advisement to the
student concerning professional issues.
