Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), Graphic Design
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts may specialize in graphic design.
Now more than ever, graphic design is an inherent and expanding component of the fabric of our times. Graphic design informs our commercial, social, public and political landscape. Graphic designers use color, imagery, typography, layout, formats and media to engage in the dialogue that is at the core of our visual culture. From logos to graphic identity, book covers to packaging, websites to apps, posters to billboards, kiosks to building façades, animated .gifs to motion graphics, interfaces to interactive experience, graphic designers are responsible for creating the effective visual communications we encounter every day.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts specialization in Graphic Design at the University of West Florida is a four-year, pre-professional program. Our curriculum raises awareness about the knowledge and themes that surround visual communication design and prepares students for careers as graphic designers. Research, analysis, sketching, concept development, and teamwork becomes an integral part of students' design process. Our students receive technical training in current industry-standard applications. They develop an in-depth understanding of the concepts of art and design, while establishing a strong foundation in order to cultivate a mature design vocabulary. The program's goal is to help students become persuasive design thinkers, equipped with the disciplinary skills and perspective to equip for professional design work.
