Cybersecurity and Information Technology

The Department of Cybersecurity and Information Technology offers coursework towards undergraduate degrees using computer programming, database administration and security, and network infrastructure support.

The UWF Department of Cybersecurity and Information Technology is an academic department that is dedicated to providing students with the computing, technical, and project management skills required to become tomorrow's IT professionals, including Database Administrators, Information Security Specialists, System Analysts and Developers, Network Engineers/Managers and other positions.

What is the difference between information technology and computer science? Both disciplines are based on computing and programming skills. While computer scientists typically take more math and programming courses to prepare for graduate school, IT students train in applications of computing systems in a variety of domains such as healthcare, finance and banking, law, government, educational institutions, data analytics, network communications, and security.

National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE-C)

The National Security Agency has designated the University of West Florida as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) and also a member of the Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) Community.
