Biography
Dr. Angela Hahn is an academic leader and educator with a robust background in health and biomedical sciences. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of West Florida in 1996. Subsequently, she pursued graduate coursework in biomedical sciences at Vanderbilt University before completing her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Hahn has been with the University of West Florida since 2006, advancing to her current role as Chair and Associate Professor of Clinical Practice in the Department of Health Sciences and Administration. As a department chair, Dr. Hahn provides vision and strategic planning, fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture, and represents the department both internally and externally. She supervises and supports faculty and staff, guiding them through professional development opportunities. Her leadership in program assessment and evaluation ensures continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
Dr. Hahn's teaching portfolio includes high-impact courses such as Health Sciences Capstone, Internship, and Bioterrorism. She emphasizes real-world applications, critical thinking, and deep learning, earning High Impact Practice designations for the HSC4050 and HSA4941 courses.
In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Hahn is actively involved in the Florida Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, serving as the Lead Evaluator. Her work involves developing evaluation plans, designing methodologies, and analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of cancer control initiatives. She collaborates with stakeholders, prepares comprehensive technical reports, and provides recommendations for program enhancements.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Hahn is engaged in various community and professional organizations. She has served on numerous committees and advisory boards, contributing her expertise to initiatives in public health, tobacco-free policies, and cancer control. Moreover, she is proud of her work to support scouting in Northwest Florida.
