Teacher Pinning Ceremony

The UWF Teacher Pinning Ceremony celebrates graduating educators as they transition to certified professionals. This tradition honors their dedication, ethical teaching, and impact on future generations, with support from faculty, mentors, and partner schools.


The Teacher Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored tradition at the University of West Florida’s School of Education, celebrating the transition from teacher candidate to certified professional. This event recognizes the dedication, perseverance, and impact of future educators as they prepare to shape the next generation.

Who?

Graduating teacher candidates from UWF’s School of Education, alongside faculty, mentors, and school district partners.

What?

A ceremonial pinning that symbolizes the culmination of academic and hands-on training, reinforcing the ethical and professional values of teaching.

When?

Held twice a year at the end of each fall and spring semester. The Spring Class of 2025 Teacher Pinning Ceremony will be May 1, 2025 at 4:00 PM CST.

Where?

University of West Florida Main Campus and live streamed on the School of Education Facebook page.

Why?

To honor, inspire, and celebrate future educators as they embark on their careers, featuring guest speakers like Escambia County Superintendent Keith Leonard and reflections from faculty and mentors.
