Biography
Dr. Morse has taught at the University of West Florida since 2020, where he continues building upon his extensive special education experience. He has earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in special education, and they pertain to students with mild disabilities, moderate-significant disabilities, special education administration, assistive technology applications in special education, and instructional design.
He is licensed to teach in three states, and his certifications encompass Elementary Education (K-8), Mild/Moderate/Severe Disabilities (K-12), and school administration as a Director of Special Education. He has worked in various positions as a special education teacher, grades P-12, in resource and self-contained classrooms. He has also provided support to students with disabilities in general education classrooms. Further, he has been employed as an Assistant Director of Special Education and both an Assistant and Associate Professor of Special Education at two universities in Mississippi: Delta State University and the University of Southern Mississippi.
A highlight of his time at the University of Southern Mississippi was a seven-year-long stint as the Director of Training/Positive Behavior Support Specialist for the University of Southern Mississippi's Autism Project. For this project, he founded and oversaw the creation and operation of an Autism Demonstration School on behalf of the university and the Mississippi Department of Education.
Moreover, he has learned quite a bit about the life experiences of children and adults with disabilities because of his involvement with several family members who received special education services when they were in school.
