UWF's online Managing Sustainability and Resiliency Graduate Certificate curriculum provides the knowledge and skills necessary for professionals to develop and apply sustainability and resiliency policies and strategies in their roles in their roles as managers and administrators in various sectors.

What You Will Learn

Expert faculty will assist you as you learn to differentiate and compare strategic planning processes with an emphasis on sustainability and resiliency. Whether your career goals are management, administration, sustainability and city planning, community development, elected and appointed leadership role or to further your education, this certificate will expose you to the internal and external environmental issues facing organizations and provide you with the tools to help them better prepare at all levels of the planning process.

By completing this certificate, you will be able to:

Differentiate between sustainability and resiliency as they apply to the public and private sectors.
Analyze the process of leadership and the purpose of sustainable leadership.
Communicate the importance of sustainability and resilience in public management and policy environments to diverse stakeholder groups.
Examine the integrity of sustainability and resilience processes in organizations.

Courses

Note: This certificate is only available to graduate non-degree-seeking students or those pursuing UWF’s MSA in Public Administration. Undergraduates cannot pursue this certificate.

Courses & Requirements

The 9 credit hour certificate program is offered completely online. The courses in the Managing Sustainability and Resiliency Graduate Certificate program supplement the broader Master of Science in Administration – Public Administration degree program. Courses are offered in the Summer and Fall semesters. There are no certificate courses offered in the Spring semester.

PAD 5434 - Leadership in Sustainability
PAD 6335 - Strategic Management for Public Service Organizations

To be considered for admission into the University of West Florida’s online Managing Sustainability and Resiliency Graduate Certificate program, you must be admitted into the University as a degree or non-degree-seeking graduate student.

How to Apply

To begin a certificate program, interested students need to fill out a graduate application. Once accepted as a graduate student, students should contact the College of Business and speak to a Public Administration advisor about course availability and scheduling. Then, complete the online Graduate Certificate Declaration Form on MyUWF.

Tuition waivers cover up to 90% of the non-resident portion of your tuition and are available to non-Florida residents (including international students) admitted to online campus programs and registered for online courses in active pursuit of that degree or certificate. You must pay all other assessed tuition and fees. The renewal of Online Campus Out-of-State Tuition Waivers is not automatic. Waiver requests must be submitted every semester and are not retroactive for previous semesters. Review Tuition Waiver Information to learn more.

Time to completion varies by student, depending on individual progress and credits transferred, if applicable. Fees are charged per semester unless otherwise noted.

Alabama Differential Out-of-State Tuition

Residents of Alabama are eligible for Alabama Differential Tuition, a reduced out-of-state tuition rate. To verify residency status for tuition purposes, new undergraduate students should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and new graduate students should contact the Graduate School.
