Students have the opportunity to pursue unique, funded research assistant positions with The Andrews Institute, The VirTra Simulator or in local schools.

Core courses are aligned with accreditation standards set forth by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and include a thesis and supervised practical application experience. The program provides the curriculum and degree requirements for national and international examinations to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Qualified Behavior Analysts (QBA) and International Behavior Analysts (IBA).

What You Will Learn

The online Master of Science Behavior Analysis program was created for experienced individuals looking to expand their research opportunities in the field, undergraduate students interested in furthering their education or those looking to build on their expertise. With this program, you will meet the curriculum requirements to apply for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, Qualified Behavior Analyst (QBA) certification, and International Behavior Analyst (IBA) certification.

By completing this degree, you will be able to:

Implement meaningful practice, based instruction based on systematic assessment and continuous evaluation, to provide the maximum benefit to all
Systematically evaluate data to make decisions in practice
Use effective written and oral communication skills to actively participate as a member of a professional community
Develop and demonstrate the ability to ethically apply behavior analysis principles to improve outcomes for individuals, including the use of evidence-based practices, continuous monitoring of intervention effectiveness, and adaptation of strategies based on data-driven decisions

The University of West Florida Applied Behavior Analysis program has been verified by the Association for Behavior Analysis International as meeting specific coursework requirements, content hours, and faculty standards and is a pre-approved coursework provider by the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA®), an internationally-accredited credentialing agency dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of care among professionals providing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities as well as an IBAO approved content provider for students pursuing IBA certification.

UWF’s online Behavior Analysis, M.S. program includes a total of 39-45 credit hours. Students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 in order to graduate. Students must complete the final thesis/capstone which is part of the Applied Experience grade.

To be considered for provisional admission into the University of West Florida’s online master’s in exceptional student education program, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Other criteria for successful admission include:

Have earned a GPA of at least 3.25 on a bachelor's degree
An oral interview

How to Apply

To apply for admission to this program, you first need to submit an application for graduate admission (plus a $30 application fee) and be accepted for admission into the University of West Florida. Review application deadlines. In addition, you must:

Submit official transcripts confirming a bachelor’s degree from an institution whose accrediting agency is included on the list of UWF approved accrediting agencies
Official transcripts are required from any institution in which the applicant earned more than 15 credit hours
Submission of a personal statement written by the applicant that demonstrates graduate-level writing ability using APA style, experience and support in the field, and evidence of academic success. Letters will be graded by the admissions committee using a rubric
Two letters of reference, at least one preferably from a former instructor and one from a supervisor
