UWF Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma Events
2022
I am pleased to report that our chapter has been designated a “Highest Honors Chapter” due to our active membership. We were engaged in numerous important activities this past academic year.
- May 2021 we installed four new student officers:
- Vice President of History Heidi Naegelin Kleiman
- Vice President of Programming Asheena Pinder
- Vice President of Publicity Megan Boyd
- Vice President of Service Elizabeth Quinlan
- Summer 2021 four members of our chapter received SGA funding to enroll in the BGS Ethical Leadership Certificate program.
- August 2021, Vice President of Publicity Megan Boyd organized our fall Welcome Back newsletter. Our Fall Welcome Back newsletter features our chapter programming plans and academic success tips from all of our student officers.
- September 2021, student Vice Presidents Megan Boyd and Elizabeth Quinlan attended the UWF SGA student officer training (SOLD) workshop.
- Fall 2021, Vice President of History Heidi Naegelin Kleiman updated our UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma website.
- On October 26, 2021 student Vice President Elizabeth Quinlan lead member in reading business-themed children’s books at the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD). This annual service project introduces dozens of children to topics that include entrepreneurship, supply chain management, and team work.
- December 2021, Vice President of Programming Asheena Pinder organized the annual budget, created budget slides, and recorded a budget presentation for UWF SGA. Our annual budget application was successful and we received funding for scholarships for the virtual BGS Ethical Leadership Certificate program and programming initiatives for next year.
- January 2022, Vice President of Publicity Megan Boyd organized our spring Welcome Back newsletter. Our Spring Welcome Back newsletter features our chapter programming plans and favorite quotes from all of our student officers.
- February 2022, Vice President of History Heidi Naegelin Kleiman updated our UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma Information Session website with pages to meet our current and past officers and professional tips on business etiquette.
- March 2022, Vice President Asheena Pinder led the efforts for our chapter to have our own Instagram account.
- April 2022, Vice President of Programming Asheena Pinder led our student officer team in organizing our chapter’s first BGS Information Session.
- April 2022, Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society announced that Quint Studer, our UWF Entrepreneur in Residence and the nominee by our UWF BGS chapter, won the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society Entrepreneurial Achievement Award.
2021
I am pleased to report that our chapter has been designated an “Honors Chapter” due to our active membership. We were engaged in numerous important activities this past academic year.
- Summer, 2020 student officer, Vice President of Service Samantha Sewell drafted our Constitution and applied successfully for official UWF student organization status.
- August 2020, Vice President of Service Samantha Sewell organized our first chapter Welcome Back newsletter with chapter programming plans and virtual learning tips from all of our student officers.
- September 2020, Vice President of Publicity Madison Jones represented our chapter at the UWF SGA officer training workshop.
- Fall 2020, Vice President of History Olivia Guntner organized updates for our UWF College of Business chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma website.
- Spring 2021, Vice President of Programming Andrew Spenner submitted our first budget to UWF SGA, Vice President of History Olivia Guntner created the budget presentation slides, and Vice President of Service Samantha Sewell recorded the budget presentation video. It was a team effort. Our budget application was successful and we received funding for scholarships for the virtual Beta Gamma Sigma Ethical Leadership Certificate program.
- February 2021, three student officers, Samantha Sewell, Madison Jones, and Olivia Guntner, and I recorded a virtual reading of an entrepreneurship-themed children’s book for the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development preschool program.
- March 2021, we held six live virtual tapping ceremonies, each with live virtual clapping and congratulations from at least eight College of Business deans, department chairs, faculty, and student officers.
- April 2021, several members received SGA funding and enrolled in the BGS Ethical Leadership Certificate program.
2020
I am pleased to report that our chapter has been designated an “Honors Chapter” due to our active membership. We were engaged in numerous important activities this past academic year.
- On June 6, 2019, two student officers, Vice President of Programming Tyler Smith and Vice President of History Christian Watkins hosted a Beta Gamma Sigma information table at the UWF Family Mingle.
- On September 5, 2019, Vice President of Publicity Isaac Clary organized the Beta Gamma Sigma information table during the College of Business Welcome Back Cookout.
- Fall 2019, Vice President of Service Victor da Cunha designed a website for the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma that features our outreach activities and student officers.
- On January 22, 2020, Vice President of Service Victor da Cunha organized the annual service project to read children’s books with business themes to preschool children in the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development.
- During February and March 2020, Vice President of Programming Tyler Smith led planning for the first Beta Gamma Sigma Information Session for our UWF chapter.
2019

- On September 13, 2018, the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma hosted our annual service project to read children’s books with business themes to preschool children in the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development. Please join me in thanking our VP of Service, Hollie Shiver for organizing this service project.
- In early November 2018, VP of Publicity Anne Dickinson attended the BGS Global Leadership Summit in Chicago, IL and participated in a case study competition. All of these activities have been highlighted in a new brochure.

I am pleased to report two activities this past academic year that we plan to repeat in the coming academic year. On September 6, 2017, the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma read children’s books with business themes to preschool children in the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development. On November 7, 2017, Beta Gamma Sigma hosted an information table during the College of Business Welcome Back Cookout. I am pleased to report three activities this past academic year that we plan to repeat in the coming academic year. On August 31, 2016, Beta Gamma Sigma hosted an information table during the College of Business Welcome Back Cookout. Please join me in thanking our VP of PR, Jessica Stephens, for organizing our table. On September 26, 2016, the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma read children’s books with business themes to preschool children in the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development. Please join me in thanking our VP of Service, Karin Muzyka for organizing this service project. On January 18, 2017, Navy Federal Credit Union hosted the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma for breakfast, a panel presentation on the value of internships and a facilities tour at the Greater Pensacola Operations. Please join me in thanking our VP of Programming, Ben Billingsley for his assistance in planning, and our VP of PR, Jessica Stephens, for following up with thank you correspondence for this event.
2016
I am pleased to report two new activities this past academic year that we plan to repeat in the fall. On September 10, 2015, Beta Gamma Sigma hosted an information table during the College of Business Welcome Back Cookout. On October 19, 2015, the UWF chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma joined with Points of Light: Read Across the Globe by reading children’s books with business themes to preschool children in the UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development.
