Gerry Goldstein

Biography

Gerry Goldstein spent more than 10 years on Wall Street in various roles within the investment banking community. In my early years, he was a short-term money trader specializing in BA’s, CD’s, Treasury Bills, and used the Euro Dollar futures market to hedge cash positions. He collaborated with team members to build two government-trading operations. His last position was with Merrill Lynch at its headquarters in New York on the institutional sales desk, specializing in short-term money instruments.

Returning to Pensacola in the early 80s, Goldstein started multiple businesses, including one of the largest printing businesses in the southeast, which supplied print to the U.S. Government Printing Office. During this same time, he designed an online system (DOTCOM) to deliver printing contracts from the U.S. Government and state agencies to printers throughout the U.S.

Currently, he owns two companies, Salomon-Goldstein Properties LLC, which specializes in commercial and residential real estate brokerage, and Goldstein Properties, which owns and manages commercial buildings. He has been active in promoting economic development in both Santa Rosa and Escambia counties for more than 10 years and sits on multiple boards, including the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Co-Lab), Board of Governors at Pensacola State College, Santa Rosa Medical Center, and Rebuild Northwest Florida.

Goldstein currently teaches at the University of West Florida in the MBA Department and the Department of Business Administration. While at the UWF, he created the Master Level Case Competition. This new and unique program brought Fortune-rated companies to the UWF campus, along with multiple universities, which sent teams to study a live case. This program allowed UWF to market itself nationally, showcasing high-impact learning. The program was so successful that companies have hired UWF students who now work for Fortune-rated companies.

His newest academic project is focused on Pensacola State College. Students in its College of Business who graduate with a B.S. degree are allowed to take the first two courses in the UWF MBA program. This program has never been done in the State of Florida. Upon completion, students will have a direct path to the UWF MBA program, having finished about 10% of the MBA degree requirements. This has been accomplished at no cost to either PSC or the students.
