Biography

Gerald (Jerry) Burch teaches in the Department of Business Administration and conducts research in many areas. 

He earned his Ph.D. from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, with major studies in Organizational Behavior and a minor in Decision Sciences. He also holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Texas in Austin.

Burch has won several awards for his research, service and teaching. Most recently his meta-analysis on experiential learning outcomes received the top award for empirical papers from the "Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education."  

His research spans the fields of entrepreneurship, leadership, operations management, information system management, cybersecurity and management education. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in many outlets including "Organizational Dynamics," "Entrepreneurship Research Journal," "Journal of Management Education," "Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education," "International Journal of Forecasting" and "Transportation Research Record."

Along with teaching, Dr. Burch works with global organizations to improve their operations and organizational behavior components. His unique blend of analytical and psychological understandings allow him to bring organizational solutions to many companies. He uses this practical experience to create a dynamic classroom learning environment where he teaches: Business Analytics, E-Business Systems, Business Data Management, Change Management and Diversity.
