Biography
Dr. Gayle Baugh, an Associate Professor of Management, has conducted in-depth research on careers, mentoring and gender and diversity in the workplace.
Baugh has examined factors that go into careers – ways to establish authenticity, developmental relationships, and the impact of mentoring on both mentor and protégé. Related studies examined who wants to be a mentor, formal versus informal mentoring, and the effect of multiple mentors in a career.
Other research topics by Baugh include “knowledge heterogeneity and team performance in an Asian economy,” gender and diversity in the workplace, career issues in family-owned businesses, career reputations, and an evaluation of quantitative research.
Baugh’s work has been published in Proceedings of the Southwest Academy of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Career Development International and Journal of Social Behavior and Personality, among others.
She is very active as an editor for work-related publications, serving as Associate Editor of Group and Organization Management and Editor of Research in Careers, an ongoing series of books.
Baugh earned a B.A. in Psychology before obtaining a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at the University of Cincinnati.
At UWF she teaches behavioral courses as well as the introductory management course and Quantitative Methods for Business.
